My daughter has been selected to go to the White House!!!

My daughter was a participant in a Journalism Program (Yollocalli | After School Matters Program) this past fall, her group had an opportunity to enter a film into the  If I Had a Trillion Dollars Film Festival contest to be presented at the White House.
In this film she was the news reporter.  The film shows, If I Had a Trillion Dollars, what would they do.  Her group proposal plan discussed the various issues in the City of Chicago such as; schools, arts, violence prevention, and education (S.A.V.E).  The Film was officially selected!!!  She was one of the students selected to go to D.C. this April 12-14, 2014, to presented the film at the festival!!!!

Character Lesson: From Prison to Palace (Joseph)

Learning Goals: Set “Apart” to Receive “Fullness”

Explore: Students will understand that God works in and through their lives to fulfill His plan for the ultimate good.

Transform: Students will understand that when they are faithful to God, they have opportunities to play a role in His mission.

Biblical Truth: Whether we understand our pain or not, we can be certain that God loves us and has a plan for us.

Biblical Passages: Genesis 40:14-15; 41:9-16, 32-36, 38-41, 41:53-54

Memory Verse: 1 Peter 5:6-7- Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you.

Students will be studying this lesson for the next few weeks about how Joseph refused to give in to the temptation of Potiphar’s wife. His choice to remain obedient to God’s standards caused him to get thrown into prison. In this lesson, we see the conclusion of Joseph’s struggles as God directs his life out of prison and into the second highest position in all of Egypt.

My hope and prayer is that students will know of  God’s love in the middle of their pain, and that they will be sensitive to God’s plan and follow His leadership and obey as God instructs by resisting anger and bitterness.

Up Coming Lessons: Refusing Temptation; Crazy Dreams; Rags to Riches; Achieving Greatness; Path to Purpose; Seeing God’s Mercy; Saving Israel; Expressing Faith; Reminders of Faithfulness; Deeper Discussion Questions
